The Property Developers Welfare Society of Nairobi (PDWESON) proudly marked a significant milestone on May 11, 2024, by hosting its first official engagement event at the elegant Attis Hotel in Eastleigh. Themed “Collaboration, Knowledge Sharing, and Sector Growth,” this inaugural gathering laid the foundation for a united and visionary development community across Nairobi.

A Strong Turnout Reflecting Industry Trust

The event brought together a total of 68 attendees, a strong representation of Nairobi’s active development sector. Among them were:

  • 26 registered PDWESON members, reaffirming their commitment to the society’s goals
  • 42 prospective and new members, demonstrating a growing interest in the association’s mission and value

This diverse mix of attendees created a dynamic atmosphere for cross-sector dialogue, networking, and idea exchange.

🔹 Opening the Conversation on Collective Progress

The event served as more than just a meet-and-greet. It sparked crucial conversations around the future of property development in Nairobi, with a focus on:

  • Clarifying PDWESON’s vision and objectives
  • Highlighting the importance of member engagement and participation
  • Exploring ways to enhance industry professionalism and ethical standards
  • Discussing potential strategic partnerships with public and private stakeholders

Speakers emphasized the society’s role as a unifying body, not only advocating for developers but also providing guidance, structure, and a platform for mutual support.

🔹 Building the Foundation for a Collaborative Culture

Throughout the program, attendees were encouraged to share their experiences, voice sector challenges, and propose collective solutions. The session proved instrumental in shaping the direction of PDWESON’s early activities, particularly around:

  • Policy advocacy
  • Membership structures
  • Developer education
  • Public engagement initiatives

Feedback collected during the event will directly inform the society’s upcoming programs and action plans.

🔹 Looking Ahead

PDWESON’s first event was not just a celebration — it was a call to action. With an energized base and clear momentum, the society now sets its sights on:

  • Launching developer capacity-building workshops
  • Hosting quarterly forums on sector-specific challenges
  • Establishing working groups on land use policy, approvals, and infrastructure planning
  • Expanding its membership and partnership ecosystem
