Focus of the Discussion

The meeting’s agenda centered on challenges faced by developers in Kamukunji and the need for regulatory clarity. Participants highlighted issues such as:

  • Inconsistent building regulations and permit delays.
  • Infrastructure gaps hindering development projects.
  • Coordination challenges between government agencies and private developers.

All agreed that these challenges require a coordinated approach. As Shibli emphasized,

“Property developers in Kamukunji often encounter overlapping regulations. By building a strong working relationship with @ncakenya, we can streamline processes and ensure projects meet safety standards.”

During opening remarks, Eng. Akech underscored the importance of collaboration:

Our discussions focused on the key challenges currently affecting property developers in Kamukunji. We must work together to address these issues.

Shibli added.

Through a cooperative and strategic partnership, we are committed to creating an enabling environment that supports growth in the sector while ensuring full compliance with regulatory frameworks and industry best practices.

MP Yussuf noted the encouraging spirit of the dialogue and the necessity of joint action.

Strategic Partnership and Commitments

One of the key outcomes was a consensus on partnership. Both sides recognized the need for ongoing communication and mutual support. Specific commitments include:

  • Establishing a joint task force or working group between NCA and developers.
  • Scheduling regular forums for developers to raise concerns directly with regulators.
  • Providing clear guidelines on compliance requirements (permits, safety standards, etc.).
  • Promoting training and information-sharing so developers can adopt best practices.

“We mutually agreed on the vital need to build a strong working relationship with the NCA,

said Shibli, summarizing the agreements. Eng. Akech echoed this, stating,

“The NCA is ready to work hand-in-hand with Nairobi’s developers. Together, we will foster growth while upholding quality and safety.”

These remarks signaled a unified vision: a robust construction sector that meets community needs and regulatory standards alike.
